Soft & Fluffy (vegan) Buns

I made these today and they were so delicious I just had to share the recipe.



You will need:
  • 2,5dl lukewarm water
  • 1/2 packet of active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp of sugar 
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1/2dl oil (I used coconut oil)
  • 500g flour (I used 400g all-purpose and 100g whole wheat)


How to:
Add the lukewarm water and the sugar to a bowl, then add in your packet of yeast and give it a quick mix. Let it sit for about 5min for the yeast to activate -it will turn foamy when it's activated. Once the yeast is ready to go add in the oil, you can use whatever you want, but make sure it doesn't have a flavour to it. Now you can add in your flour and salt. You can mix different types of flour if you want, just make sure the majority of it is the all-purpose -otherwise they won't turn out as fluffy and soft. I used 400g all-purpose and 100g whole wheat. Now you can knead it into a ball, cover with a tea towel and set it aside to rise for about 45min.  


Once the dough has risen you'll need to knead it for a bit till it's nice and elastic. Go ahead and form it into your desired sized buns, and cover them once again with a tea towel and let them rise for about 20min.


Now it's finally time to put them in the oven! I had mine in for about 12min at 175C. I brushed mine with some egg wash before putting them in, to make sure they got nice and golden. If you wanna keep them vegan friendly use non-dairy milk or butter instead.



And that's it! Now you got amazingly soft and fluffy buns ready to eat. I had mine with butter and blueberry jam and MY GOD it was good!
